Marysville Raceway Park (formerly Twin Cities Speedway) in Marysville, California began a new era in 2007. New promoters, track improvements, and a new attitude means more excitement for auto racing fans in Northern California. Richards richer in 2nd wingless win as McDaniel takes Mod $; Hall, Canales and Hiatt win 1st ever features MAY 11, 2008 --- Another beautiful evening and another packed house saw another well-crafted, ambitious 5 division show. 88 cars were on the grounds as Marysville Raceway Park continues to lure racers from all over with excellent purses and contingency awards all up for grabs. Over 200 laps of racing were presented with action and crashes and, still, the fans were on their way home at a reasonable hour once again. Promoters Paul and Kathy Hawes’ hosted 28 MRP Wingless Sprint Cars in a spectacular show of continued strength in that division. Paradise veteran Tony Richards picked up some $1850 in prize money and contingency awards for the 2nd straight week with a dominating run in that class. Ryan McDaniel used a late race pass on Nevada hot shoe Shawn Natenstedt top grab the $1000 1st place prize in the Modifieds. Sutter’s Corey Hall won his 1st ever MRP Street Stock finale after a bizarre final lap that still has folks talking. Josh Hiatt of Stockton got an enormous gorilla off his back as the “Caped Crusader” picked up his 1st ever Nor Cal Dwarf Car win after 6 years of trying. Dothage and Richards thunder to sprint car $; Staving gets 1st win and Glass tops BCRA; Clayton survives bomber mayhem MAY 4, 2008 --- A beautiful evening, a packed house and 107 racecars graced Paul and Kathy Hawes’ Marysville Raceway Park Saturday night for point race #7 on the 2008 schedule. Wingless sprint car veteran Tony Richards of Paradise won the MRP wingless sprint car feature event. Contingency program offers $300,000 to MRP racers 20-race program will highlight Wingless and Winged sprints MAY 1, 2008 --- In a brief statement, promoter Paul Hawes noted that he is implementing a contingency award program for drivers at Marysville Raceway Park for 20 events. According to promoter Hawes, while writing his weekly Promoter’s Corner, he said, “Racers at Marysville Raceway Park will be sporting a few more decals than normal (in the week’s to come). Marysville Raceway Park is one of two California tracks selected to operate in partnership with Contingency Connection to add more prize money to our racers payoffs. For the next 20 races contingency monies will increase the top purse in the MRP Wingless and MRP Winged Sprint Cars by $150,000....(more) |
