“Bomber” class will return in 2011. 
New name and rules will govern popular slam-bang “strictly stock” class.

Marysville CA - October 5, 2010 --- Promoter Paul Hawes handed this observer a new set of rules for what used to be called the Extreme Bombers. The class will get a new name next season but continue to allow inexpensive American passenger cars to compete. The class will now be called the MRP Hobby Stocks. Digging from a rich inventory of experience and an assessment of the rules, MRP officials and promoter Hawes have adjusted the “Bomber” rules in such a way that strictly stock passenger vehicles only will be allowed. Pick ups, SUVs and other similar vehicles will not be permitted.

The class is now open to any AMERICAN MADE passenger car with a wheelbase of 104” to 115” only. The car may be front wheel drive or rear wheel drive. Generally speaking this must be a stock car in the purest sense of the word with no modifications. Promoter Hawes said, “I want it so somebody can bring in a Taurus or a Camaro, put a cage in it and race.” Well, there are a few other rules that must be adhered to. But, truth be told, it is a very low budget strictly stock racing car and a logical, realistic and exciting move forward. 

The engine must be stock to the car. If it’s an ’88 Camaro, it must have the motor that came in that car, fuel injection and all. Intake, ignition, engine and exhaust must be stock to the car. If it’s a ’93 Taurus, a ’96 Stratus or ‘89 Mustang, same thing goes. NO aftermarket performance parts are allowed AT ALL! No modification of the stock suspension is allowed AT ALL! As previously mentioned, in addition to approved roll cages, helmets and racing harness seat belts will be required for all drivers…AND passengers. Like the “Bombers” before it, with current economic conditions considered, frankly, this class is designed to be a very cheap way to go racing…period.

Promoter Hawes also discussed special, post-season events that could be included in next year’s schedule and may include an “enduro” or “boat regatta”. There will be much more on all of that later

All of the commentary above is designed to give a general overview of the class. All of the rules will be posted on the website forthwith. Copies of the rules will be available at MRP Saturday night.

Speaking of Saturday night, with more and more champion drivers committing to an appearance at MRP in all 5 classes, it should be one of the finest fields in MRP’s illustrious history. The race will have all of the primary divisions on the card. The MRP Winged Sprinters, the Performance Auto Supply Wingless Warrior Sprint Car Series, the MRP Mini Stocks, Super Stocks and Pro 4 Sprints will all be presented. Championships will be won and celebrated Saturday night. IT will be a gas….. Be there.

Pit gate opens at 3PM. The spectator gates will open at 5 PM with Hot Laps at 6 PM. IMPORTANT: The first race will start after hot laps at about 6:30.
