Big Rig Truck Racing debuts at
D.Q. Dilly Bar Nite and Exhibition/Hot Laps for IBRRA BIG RIG TRUCKS Saturday.
1st Big Rig race August 14. By Bob
Marysville CA - August 2,
2010 --- Paul and Kathy Hawes will host the 2nd Dilly Bar Nite of 2010 sponsored by Dairy Queen of Yuba City and the Hall family. The MRP Winged Sprint Cars, MRP’s own Super Stocks and Mini Stocks will also be presented. Last Saturday night promoter Paul Hawes announced that the 1st ever IBRRA Big Rig Truck event will be offered on Taco Bell Night August 14th. In advance of that event, promoter Hawes will have several tractors on hand this Saturday night (August 7) for open practice in between the scheduled events. This long awaited project has got traction now and Hawes said it was time to race. So, this coming Saturday night you will be able to see the first laps “turned in anger” by MRP’s newest division.
There are a few Big Rig Truck associations that traditionally race on road courses and pavement, mostly in Europe. But, nowhere has this observer heard of a local association formed for this type of racing on dirt. This is truly a unique offering coming on the heels of the very successful MRP EXTREME BOMBER concept that has been filling the MRP stands whenever they are scheduled. Since the idea was kicked around over the past winter, promoter Paul Hawes has been actively putting together a field of big rigs.
This Saturday night will be the 1st opportunity to see them run. Their first official race is scheduled with a full race program on Taco Bell Night that will INCLUDE the MRP EXTREME BOMBERS on the same program. This Saturday night the MRP Winged Sprinters, the MRP Mini Stocks and Super Stocks will headline the program in advance of the 1st ever official hot laps and practice exhibition of the IBRRA Big Rig trucks. Plus! FREE DQ Dilly Bars for everyone in the house!! Pit gate opens at 3PM. The spectator gates will open at 5 PM with Hot Laps at 6 PM. IMPORTANT: The first race will start after hot laps at about 6:30.
