Marysville CA -
October 10, 2007 --- Be at Marysville Raceway Park this Saturday night. Do not miss this show. Paul and Kathy Hawes will bring down the curtain on the 2007 racing season with a spectacular crash ‘em’ up finale. The must see 1st annual “Extreme Bomber Regatta and Recreational Vehicle Demolition Derby” will be presented. You read it right!! Extreme Bomber Stock Cars will pull recreational vehicle trailers and/or boat trailers in a mechanized slugfest for 100 laps around the MRP ¼ mile (or until only one car is left running). Based on the temperament of the drivers involved, there could be such carnage that the latter is surely a possibility. It’s all pretty simple and should be an absolute gas! This wild and wooly event is sure to get your heartbeat up.
Promoter Hawes informed this observer that Winged Sprint Car standout (and 3 time champion in the class) Korey Lovell, of Yuba City and arch nemesis Brandon Dozier, of Marysville, will pilot cars with Recreational Vehicles and/or boat trailers attached. Wingless Sprint Car star Jeremy Hawes will also strap himself into an Extreme Bomber for the first time. Seeing that trio in this all out, slam-bang, car (and recreational vehicle)-crushing event alone will be worth the price of admission.
This will be a race where it will be OK to slam into that competitor you owe one to. That subplot could be more interesting than the race itself. According to promoter Hawes, several of the MRP drivers that compete regularly will put together teams for this incredible demolition derby. If there’s bad blood anywhere, this event makes it OK to go for it. No yellow flags allowed!!!
Extreme Bomber racecars are unique as the driver has control of the gas and steering. The passenger (yep, right again, 2 people in 1 car) has control of the brakes. The class is always set to a task that the driver’s don’t know about in advance. Some events this year were run backwards, some in a figure 8. One night they were given paint ball guns! Saturday night they’ll all know what to do! This hoot and holler, junk-producing extravaganza will be talked about all winter. One driver asked if a horse trailer was OK. Yes…but, no horses. Do not miss this event! The beer booth will be open and Kathy’s Kitchen will be serving up the best racetrack food on the planet. Bring the whole family and have a great time.
As a special added attraction, two classes of Stock Cars will compete in complete programs of heat races and feature events. Both the Pro-Stocks and Pure Stocks will take to the quick MRP clay in advance of the season ending mayhem. This open, non-point paying Stock Car event is open to all competitors in these classes from tracks all over California. Local Stock Car teams are expected to take them all on.
Next year Paul and Kathy Hawes will be back to MRP celebrating the 40th year of continual operation. Look for many special events to be posted here in the near future. Pit gates always open at 3PM. Spectator Gates Open at 5PM with racing getting underway at 7PM. Contact the promoters at 1.530.743.1327 or email as indicated on the home page.
